Very good magazine very bad application

Having exact same issues as previous reviewer. Have been trying to resolve with Customer Service off and on for a month. All apps must be fully closed for download to even start and when it does, the magazine or an ad opens, pausing the download which wont restart. Paper copy not arrived five wks later. Ill be happy when it does. I wouldnt bother with any of this if I didnt have such faith in this publication; they can do better.

I now know why I can’t load previous issues: because once your subscription is inactive, SciAm will archive the issues you bought for a limited time. If that is a problem, as it was for me, get a print subscription. The magazine does read beautifully in the app for iPad and the articles are fantastic. I just wish I could keep what I bought.

Despite digital subscription that includes 1 year archive access I am asked to pay for any past issue??

These guys made an app that doesnt let you create an account to purchase a subscription. It just opens a blank, white screen. I guess they dont want my money... So Ill keep it.

Cant sign in, issues not showing up, impossible to renew. Not good.

Great ap.... You can archive the digital magazines you subscribed to for a year.

I downloaded IOS8 and all my purchases disappeared. I have been trying to restore them but my attempts fail all the time. However it becomes possible to download every single issue one by one after I delete the application, then something happens and the application turns off by itself, when I turn it on, my purchases are lost again... And I have to download it all over... Very disappointing!

I love reading Scientific American on my iPad. I actually prefer the style and outline over NatGeos. So you can imagine my utter disappointment when I found out the Apple update has made my Scientific American app inoperable. Please fix ASAP!!!!!

The app is no longer working after apples latest update. I have deleted and downloaded a second time. Same problem. It gives you an error when you try to download the latest issue. Anyone else having the same problem?

My entire intention in subscribing was foiled by the failed App. I signed up Sept 22 and the App still does not work. Love the "magazine" but cant read it! Very, very frustrating esp. that a large population relies heavily on working apps to read periodicals like this in a mobile way. Even more frustrating that customer service was so uninformed about getting it resolved. Youd think SA would have a greater sense of urgency about getting this fixed. 1star for poor customer service, not keeping subscribers informed of status and not having this issue resolved by now.

These folks are just not updating the app. This is ridiculous. Theyre in over their heads and shouldnt have apps in the App Store. Avoid this app on iOS. I wish I could get a refund for my subscription.

I have enjoyed my digital subscription until recently, when it appeared as an update in the App Store. It never did update itself, so I deleted it from my Newsstand, and tried to download it again, with no luck. I want my magazine back!

Will not download any issues. And because or that, I will not buy a subscription.

Love this magazine, in fact I somehow have two subscriptions to it. Though it doesnt automatically download new issues or offer notifications when a new one comes out. And it seems to forget my login because I need to log in every couple of times I access it.

What good is a subscription to an eMagazine if you cant download issues in the app without buying them again, when you try to log into the website it wont let you see more than the first paragraph of an article (or even the contents of the issue) despite telling you you have a valid subscription, the online Users Guide is useless, and every link on every page leads back to another subscription or buy the issue offer. Save your money and just get the paper version if you want it. What a joke that "Scientific" American is not capable of mastering the same technology that fashion magazines have been successfully using for years!

I purchased this magazine via iTunes one year ago and have never had access to the app to be able to read it. Scientific American Mind blames iTunes and iTunes blames Scientific American Mind. Neither company has offered a refund or a hard-copy subscription - they just continue to expect me to jump through hoops. As much as I enjoy this magazine, I won’t buy it again and I won’t buy a subscription to any other magazine via iTunes. This debacle has cost both companies a customer.

The articles are fascinating. The visual layout is beautiful.

The magazine is worthwhile but the iPad version is worthless. Theres zero customer support and its a nightmare trying to download issues - especially when youre trying to restore purchases. It wont download in the background and most of the time even when Im sitting in front of my iPad glaring at the screen it will download an issue sloooooowly almost to completion and then revert to a place a third of the way down the progress bar with a message saying it cant be downloaded at this time, try again later. Its an endless exercise in frustration. Too bad I cant give the app zero stars.
